About

Who writes this, and how

A recovery app is asking for a lot of trust — you are letting it tell you what is happening in your own head. Here is where the content comes from, and where it stops.

Who makes it

Soleo is built by Ion Botnaru, an independent developer working as IBSoft. Not a company with a clinical board, not a venture-funded startup — one person, three apps, and no investors to answer to. That is worth saying plainly, because it shapes both what the apps are good at and what they are not.

What it buys you: no advertising, no data brokerage, and no incentive to keep you engaged rather than finished. The apps are funded by the people who choose to upgrade, and by nothing else.

Where the course content comes from

The 20 chapters are written from the clinical literature on binge eating — the standard textbooks, the national treatment guidelines, and the meta-analyses that summarise what the trials actually found. The 140 lessons carry 381 numbered citations between them, from 93 distinct sources.

Those citations are in the app itself, not in a bibliography nobody opens. Tap a marker in a sentence and the reference appears with a link to the publication. If a claim in the course looks wrong to you, you can check it in about ten seconds — which is the entire point of building it that way.

The limits, stated rather than buried

  • It is not written or reviewed by a licensed clinician. It is a careful, sourced summary of published clinical work. The visible citations exist precisely so you do not have to take an anonymous author's word for anything.
  • It does not diagnose. The course explains the DSM-5 criteria because understanding them is useful. Applying them to you is a clinician's job.
  • It is not treatment. Guided self-help is a recognised step in the treatment pathway for binge eating disorder, and this app is a self-help resource — but the guided part means a person, and the app is not one.
  • It is written for adults. Both stores rate it 18+.

The editorial rules

These are applied to the app, this site, the store listings and anything else with our name on it:

  • No weight-loss framing anywhere — no calorie counts, no weight targets, no BMI, no before-and-after. The course argues that the diet–binge cycle is part of the cause, so a diet feature would contradict the content.
  • No curative claims. Nothing here says “cure”, “treat” or “clinically proven”, because nothing here has earned those words.
  • No urgency and no shame. A slip is data about a pattern, not a verdict on a person, and the copy in the app is written that way throughout.
  • Numbers have to be checkable. Every figure on this site was counted from the app's own source on 13 September 2026, and there is no rating claimed anywhere, because the app does not have enough ratings yet for one to mean anything.

Corrections

If something in the course is wrong, out of date, or cited badly, tell us and it gets fixed in the next release. That is a genuine request, not a formality — ibsoft.studio@gmail.com.

Soleo is educational self-help. It is not a substitute for professional medical care, and it does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you are struggling, please speak to a qualified professional.
